In a vibrant ceremony echoing with tradition and hope, Nana Asare Bediako Ababio III has been officially coronated as the new chief of Akyem Akokoaso in the Akyemansa District of the Eastern Region. Known in his private life as Kwame Akesse Prah, Nana Bediako Ababio III, a cash crop farmer, ascended to his position following the customs and traditions of his people, marking a significant milestone for the community.

The coronation, which took place at the Akyem Akokoaso Presbyterian School Park, attracted hundreds of citizens, representatives from the Akyem Kotoku Traditional Council, well-wishers, and dignitaries from various spheres of life. It was a joyous occasion, marking the end of a decade-long period without a chief and heralding the dawn of a new era for Akyem Akokoaso.

In his inaugural address to his people, Nana Bediako Ababio III pledged to champion unity, peace, and development within the Akyem Akokoaso community. He emphasized the importance of fostering harmony as a catalyst for progress and outlined his vision for the community, which includes the establishment of essential infrastructure such as a chief’s palace and an Information, Communication, and Technology (ICT) center for the benefit of students and residents alike.

Additionally, the newly installed chief addressed pressing issues facing the community, such as access to clean water, sanitation facilities, marketplaces, community centers, and school infrastructure. He called for collective effort and cooperation to tackle these challenges and assured his commitment to collaborating with the government to regulate illegal mining activities, which have had a detrimental impact on the community.

Support for Nana Bediako Ababio III's vision poured in from esteemed guests, including the Krontihene of the Akyem Kotoku Traditional Council, Obrempong Gyamfi Sarfo Kyere, who urged the youth and residents to rally behind their chief in realizing the community's development aspirations. Unity and mutual respect were underscored as vital elements for progress, echoing the sentiment that a divided community cannot thrive.

Chairing the function, the Chief of New Abirem, Obrempong Akwasi Amoh Kyeretwie, extended his support by contributing 150 bags of cement towards the construction of the new Akyem Akokoaso Chief’s Palace. He also advised Nana Bediako Ababio III to explore avenues for community mining to generate employment opportunities for the youth and combat illegal mining activities.

As Akyem Akokoaso embraces a new era under the leadership of Nana Asare Bediako Ababio III, optimism and determination abound, signaling a promising future of progress and prosperity for the community and its people.
