In a bid to foster national development and enhance democratic practices, the National Democratic Party (NDP) has called for inclusive and participatory engagements in governance policy formulation. The Secretary-General of NDP, Alhaji Mohammed Frimpong, emphasized the necessity for active involvement of citizens in the country’s governance and development trajectory.

Addressing a press conference in Accra themed "Inclusive and Participatory Leadership for National Development," Alhaji Frimpong highlighted the imperative for a fundamental shift towards inclusive governance models. He urged leaders to inspire their followers towards higher virtues, stressing the need to transcend political recriminations deeply embedded in social ills.

The press conference, a component of the NDP's extended National Executive Council meeting, witnessed the participation of both national and regional executives, signaling the party's commitment ahead of the 2024 election.

Alhaji Frimpong cautioned against misleading national discourse during the electoral process, asserting that such practices undermine the democratic fabric of the nation. He lamented the prevalence of divisive rhetoric and urged Ghanaians to rally behind efforts to promote probity and accountability in governance.

Highlighting the role of organized labor in national affairs, Alhaji Frimpong called for vigilant oversight over administrative and financial processes to combat corruption effectively. He criticized attempts to curtail the inclusivity and participation of citizens in governance, emphasizing the need for transparency to drive sustainable development.

Furthermore, Mr. Frimpong urged political parties to prioritize inclusivity and participation in governance, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding public interests and resources. He advocated for a shift from mere manifesto-based discourse towards a more open dialogue that embraces innovative ideas and solutions.

In conclusion, he proposed leveraging institutions such as the National Development Planning Commission, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), and think tanks to enhance various sectors including infrastructure, agriculture, health, employment, and the economy. This, he argued, would pave the way for comprehensive and sustainable national development.
