The President of the Accra City Conference of the Seventh Day Adventist Church (SDA), Pastor Dr. Solomon Okoe Trebi Hammond, emphasized the vital importance of promoting peace, love, and unity, particularly in the context of upcoming elections. He underscored the significance of adhering to biblical principles such as loving one's neighbor and obeying God's commands as essential for fostering national peace.
During the inauguration of the renovated Church building of the Labone branch of the SDA Church, Pastor Hammond urged Ghanaians to embrace peaceful coexistence, tolerance, and respect for differing viewpoints in the interest of the nation.
The inauguration marked the culmination of a four-year renovation project valued at GH¢1.5 million. The project encompassed various enhancements including the installation of a new roof, internal structural modifications, rewiring, installation of glazed windows and doors, upgrades to sound equipment, and air conditioner installations.
The project's financing primarily stemmed from dedicated fundraising efforts by church members since 2019, with approximately 60% of the funding originating from member donations. Additional support was provided by the Seventh Day Adventist School, Labone.
Elder Horace Nkansah, Chair of the Project Committee, provided an overview of the project's progress and financing. Branch pastor, Samuel Emmanuel Thompson, expressed gratitude for the committee's efforts in completing the project and pledged adherence to relevant regulations. Despite acknowledging the temporary impact on church attendance during the renovation, Thompson anticipated a resurgence in attendance post-completion.
