NDC Addresses Misconduct Allegations Against Greater Accra Regional Chairman

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has assured that the party will promptly address a petition submitted by over 40 constituency women organizers to the party’s Functional Executive Committee (FEC). The petition alleged misconduct by the Greater Accra Regional Chairman, Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore.

According to Mustapha Gbande, the Deputy General Secretary of the party, the matters raised will be carefully examined. Mr. Gbande emphasized that the party takes such allegations seriously and will not attempt to cover them up, while also ensuring that due processes are followed.

The petition from the women organizers alleged that Ashie Moore had repeatedly displayed aggressive behavior and threatened assault against some leading women in the party. The group highlighted the urgency of the situation, noting the strategic importance of the Greater Accra Region in the 2024 elections. They argued that it is crucial to address Ashie Moore’s behavior to ensure the women’s wing of the party can perform its duties with confidence and contribute to the party’s success in the upcoming elections.

On Citi FM on Thursday, July 18, Mr. Gbande insisted that the party has internal mechanisms to adequately deal with such matters. He reiterated that the issues raised in the petition would be thoroughly investigated to maintain the integrity and unity of the party.

“What you can count upon is that this current leadership is fortified to take decisions that will deal with it squarely… So when the General Secretary is properly briefed, FEC is properly briefed, and leadership is properly briefed wherever the axe might be the party will put the axe there and if it is a matter to reconcile, the party will do so and will proceed.”

“…So, if you see any internal conflict around the NDC, it is nothing too serious, it is not too strange. It will be dealt with and according to our laws," he said.
