Brigadier Joseph Nunoo-Mensah (retd), a distinguished figure within the Ghana Armed Forces, has raised alarm regarding the deteriorating economic conditions in Ghana, expressing deep concern over the lack of progress and hopelessness pervading the nation.

Speaking at a book launch event in Accra last Tuesday, where he was honored with the unveiling of "A Legacy of Service to Humanity," a biography penned by Korletey Jorbua Obuadey, Brig. Nunoo-Mensah highlighted the current downward trajectory of Ghana's fortunes.

The retired Brigadier lamented the apparent absence of courageous voices willing to confront the stark realities facing the country, asserting that Ghana is regressing rather than advancing. He drew attention to the sacrifices of past heroes who propelled the nation forward and contrasted them with present leaders whom he accused of prioritizing personal gain over the nation's welfare.

Brig. Nunoo-Mensah underscored the exodus of Ghanaian youths seeking opportunities abroad, questioning why Ghana, endowed with abundant resources, struggles to manage its affairs competently. He criticized successive governments, including both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), for their failure to deliver tangible achievements during their tenures.

Expressing apprehension about the potential ramifications of the worsening situation, Brig. Nunoo-Mensah warned of a possible descent into desperation among the populace, which could threaten the country's peace and stability.

The event also witnessed accolades from Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, a founding member of the NPP, who commended Brig. Nunoo-Mensah's exemplary life and urged aspiring leaders to emulate his dedication and service. Dr. Tamakloe lauded Brig. Nunoo-Mensah's journey from humble beginnings to the pinnacle of military leadership, emphasizing his profound impact both within the armed forces and the broader society.

As Ghana grapples with mounting economic challenges, voices like Brigadier Joseph Nunoo-Mensah (retd) serve as poignant reminders of the urgent need for decisive action and principled leadership to steer the nation towards a brighter future.
