The Guinness World Records (GWR) recently disclosed the reasons behind Afua Asantewaa's unsuccessful attempt to break the record for the longest singing marathon. According to GWR officials, Asantewaa's singathon fell short of the mark due to violations of their guidelines, particularly regarding rest break timings, which are standardized across all 'longest marathon' records.

On February 23, 2024, GWR announced on X (formerly Twitter) that Asantewaa had not succeeded in breaking the record she attempted in December 2023. Despite the setback, GWR expressed hope that Asantewaa would consider making another attempt, acknowledging the inspiration her effort had provided to her fans. They also confirmed the refund of the money her team paid for a priority review.

Asantewaa's singathon took place over five days, beginning at midnight on December 24, 2023, and concluding at 7:00 am on December 29, 2023. However, her attempt was invalidated, and she sang for five days, six hours, and 55 minutes in total.

Following the announcement of her disqualification, Asantewaa took to social media to share that she received the news just before hosting a gala dinner and the launch of the Lebanese Scholarship Alumni Network, attended by President Nana Akufo-Addo. She assured her supporters that she would announce her next steps shortly, thanking them for their love and support.
