The Chiume family shared the news via Instagram, requesting privacy during this difficult time. The statement read: “The Chiume Family regrets to inform you of the passing of the internationally acclaimed award-winning actress Connie Chiume."
Following the news, Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw expressed her condolences on Instagram, saying, “NO! Rest in peace Mum Connie. You were deeply loved & appreciated. My condolences to South Africa; they have lost a beautiful soul. Sleep well, my friend!”
The South African Government also honored Chiume’s legacy through a post on X, formerly Twitter. They stated, “Our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of multi-award-winning and legendary actress Connie Chiume. Her outstanding work will always be remembered.”
