Baba Sadiq Urges Entertainment Industry to Stop Criticizing Mark Okraku-Mantey, Calls for Focus on Government

Entrepreneur and National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Okaikoi Central, Baba Sadiq, has called on stakeholders in the entertainment industry to cease criticism of Deputy Minister for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Mark Okraku-Mantey, over unmet expectations within the creative sector.

In a recent interview with DJ Slim on Daybreak Hitz, Sadiq attributed the slow progress in the creative industry to the government’s inadequate support rather than any shortcomings on Okraku-Mantey’s part. He emphasized that without the backing of the president and a committed government, the efforts of individuals like Okraku-Mantey would remain insufficient.

"People should just stop this thing and stop picking on Mark specifically because they have issues with him; they have to pick on the government. There’s no strong will by the government to say, ‘We are looking to develop the creative industry. We’re looking to enable the creative industry. These are the big visions, bold ideas, and things we are looking to do.’ Those things are not there," Sadiq asserted.

Sadiq went on to highlight the limitations of Okraku-Mantey’s role as a deputy minister, urging critics to shift their focus to the President. He suggested that the President should be reminded of the unfulfilled promises made to the creative industry over the past eight years.

"He can’t do anything. He’s a deputy minister. People like to pick on him, but they should talk to the president directly. And say, ‘Chief, in the past 8 years, you’ve made twenty-one promises to us. You’ve not been able to deliver this. What is happening?’ Speak about some of these things, instead of blaming Mark for his inability to deliver,” Sadiq concluded.
