President Urges Women Judges to Champion Justice and Equality

Highlighting the significance of their decisions, President Akufo-Addo urged judges to uphold principles of fairness, equality, and justice, serving as beacons for those marginalized or oppressed. He envisioned a future where the law not only punishes but also educates and reforms, fostering an environment where individuals are judged based on their potential rather than conformity to outdated customs.

The five-day conference, themed "Combating negative cultural practices in contemporary times: The role of women judges," has drawn participants from various African nations. It aims to empower women judges to address gender bias, discriminatory laws, and other challenges, while promoting human rights and gender-responsive courts.

President Akufo-Addo reiterated Ghana's commitment to eliminating harmful cultural practices, emphasizing the importance of education and collaborative efforts beyond the courtroom. He reaffirmed the government's support for the judiciary, including initiatives to enhance access to justice through the establishment of courthouses nationwide.

The President's remarks underscored the critical role of women judges in shaping a more just and equitable society, free from discrimination and injustice.
