Patapaa Calls Out Critics as Ignorant, Defends His Musical Talent
Ghanaian musician Patapaa defends his talent against critics, addressing negative labelling and emphasizing his contributions to the music industry.
Musician Patapaa, who hit the limelight in 2017 with his debut hit "One Corner," has expressed his displeasure with critics who dismiss his talent and claim his fame was mere luck.
In a recent interview with Graphic Showbiz, Patapaa described those who question his musical abilities as ignorant individuals who refuse to recognize his genuine talent.
"Some radio and TV panellists, presenters, and industry insiders have always tried to label me as untalented, which is false. This negative claim is affecting my progress in the music industry," Patapaa stated.
Patapaa emphasized that many of his detractors lack a true understanding of the music industry yet position themselves as experts. "They come out and want to take every opportunity to trample on my brand. Building a brand like mine isn't easy, yet they want to destroy everything I have worked hard for in a short time," he added.
He highlighted the long-standing issue of being unfairly branded as an artist who produces nonsensical music, a label he argues is detrimental to his career. "No matter how much I try to work hard, it's very difficult because I have been branded as a man who doesn’t make sensible songs, which is untrue. That narrative must stop."
Patapaa attributed some of the negative comments to jealousy rather than a genuine appreciation of music. "I am going to school them and put some discipline in the music game because some of their comments are born out of jealousy."
Despite the criticism, Patapaa acknowledged the unwavering support of his fanbase, Pa2PaSojas. He credited them for keeping him motivated to continue his music career. "My contribution to the music industry is recognized and valued by my fans, Pa2PaSojas. Those who don’t like my music are fans of other artists and want to denigrate me for their selfish interest. At least, they should know that my 'One Corner' song kept Ghana on the global map," he asserted.
Patapaa remains determined to change the negative labelling and continue his contribution to the music industry, supported by his loyal fans.
