King Charles III Welcomes Asantehene to Sandringham House

King Charles III welcomed the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu III, to the Sandringham House in the United Kingdom on Tuesday. Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is currently in the UK as part of his Silver Jubilee celebrations.

This is the first visit of the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to the King of England since King Charles III's coronation in March 2023. The visit comes as the Asantehene is in the United Kingdom (UK) among other things for a lecture at the British Museum.

The visit took place at King Charles’ Sandringham residence, a house standing on a 20,000-acre estate in the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The Asantehene will on August 4, 2024, host the sixth Akwasidae Festival of the year in London as part of his 25th Anniversary on the Golden Stool.

As part of his working visit to the UK, he held talks with the Victoria and Albert Museum, delivered a lecture at the British Museum, and celebrated the Awukudae festival there.

The Asantehene left Ghana on Saturday, July 13, 2024.
