Popular Ghanaian Actor Lil Win Resigns from Parliamentary Race Due to Financial Constraints
Ghanaian actor and comedian, Kwadwo Nkansah aka Lil Win, announces his resignation from contesting the parliamentary seat of Afigya Kwabre South constituency in the Ashanti region, citing financial limitations.
In a surprising turn of events, renowned Ghanaian actor and comedian Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win, has officially withdrawn from the race for the parliamentary seat of the Afigya Kwabre South constituency in the Ashanti region. The decision, he revealed, stems from insurmountable financial hurdles he faced in his campaign.
Lil Win's aspiration to venture into politics gained attention in August last year when he declared his candidacy, responding to the calls of traditional leaders and constituents who expressed confidence in his potential to represent the constituency effectively. However, with the premiere of his movie, "A Country Called Ghana," on the horizon, Lil Win has opted to step back from the political arena.
In a recent interview on Daybreak Hitz, Lil Win candidly shared his predicament, stating the necessity of significant funding for a successful campaign, which he presently lacks. As a result, he has decided to regroup and strategize for a future bid, eyeing the 2028 elections to run as an independent candidate.
The actor emphasized his impartial stance by highlighting his amicable relationships with both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Party (NDC). His decision to go independent, he explained, stems from his reluctance to align with a single party due to his affinity for both, stating, "I can’t join a political party because I love both parties and have friends everywhere."
With Lil Win's withdrawal from the current political race, the Afigya Kwabre South constituency will witness a different dynamic in the upcoming elections, while the actor prepares himself for a future bid, promising to return with renewed vigor and determination.
