In a significant act of corporate social responsibility, Universal Hospitals Group Limited (UHG) has donated essential medical items to the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC). The donated items include cotton wool, paraffin gauze dressing, gauze bandage, plasters, personal protection equipment (PPEs), sutures, needles, and syringes.

Speaking at the donation ceremony, Mr. Frederick Amissah, the Chief Executive Officer of UHG, emphasized the company's commitment to giving back to the community, especially in areas where they operate.

“We are a uniquely Ghanaian company with global footprints through our global partnerships. We are pioneers in the markets we operate. We thrive on our core values of integrity, people centricity, accountability, transparency, innovation, dependability, and excellence. To us, excellence is a choice,” he stated.

Established in 1988, Universal Hospitals Group Limited is a Ghanaian/West African company dedicated to delivering healthcare infrastructure projects. The company's objective is to improve the health and wellbeing of people in the societies in which they operate.

Mr. Amissah highlighted that over the years, the company's portfolio has expanded to include specialist project design, building, training of critical staff, equipment installation and maintenance, supply of non-medical consumables, and consultancy services.

With over 35 years of industry experience, UHG has undertaken more than 60 projects, ranging from small to tertiary facilities in dental, physiotherapy, and equipment installation across Ghana. The company has also been involved in supplying and installing medical equipment at The Trust Hospitals, GPHA Hospital, Ministry of Health (Ghana), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and in Liberia, The Gambia, Nigeria, and Niger.

Looking to the future, UHG aims to embrace the ever-changing healthcare environment and explore emerging opportunities.

At the donation event, Dr. George Ananie, Head of Business Development for UHG, stressed the focus on channeling the company's products and services to the vast market within and beyond the African continent.

Receiving the donations, Mrs. Lucy Brimpong Ofori-Ayeh, Director of Operations at UGMC, expressed profound gratitude to UHG for the timely gesture, which she said would address critical needs of the hospital. She further called on other benevolent institutions to emulate UHG's example.

Dr. Baffoe Gyan, Director of Medical Affairs at UGMC, noted that as a specialist hospital, UGMC receives more emergency cases requiring urgent attention to save lives.

In recent times, UHG has also made donations to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital, St John of God Hospital, Princess Marie Louis Children’s Hospital, Pantang Hospital, and Ridge Hospital. Additionally, the company has constructed an eight-unit classroom complex at Boadua in the Eastern Region and provided boreholes and water systems for various communities across the country.
