Veteran Nollywood Actor Segun Arinze Reveals 12-Year Single Stint After Divorce
Veteran Nollywood actor Segun Arinze shares insights into his 12-year journey of remaining single following the end of his first marriage, shedding light on his emotional struggles and eventual remarriage.
In a candid revelation, renowned Nollywood actor Segun Arinze has disclosed the reasons behind his 12-year hiatus from marriage following the dissolution of his first union.
Arinze, 58, tied the knot with actress Anne Njemanze in 1996, but their marital bliss was short-lived, culminating in a divorce just a year later.
After more than a decade of navigating life as a single man, Arinze found love again in 2008 when he married Julie. The couple has since welcomed three children into their lives.
Speaking on the WithChude podcast, Arinze delved into the complexities of his journey, admitting to feeling lost in his quest for the right partner after his initial marriage ended.
“I was confused about getting the right person,” Arinze confessed, reflecting on the aftermath of his divorce from Njemanze. “I got into so many crazy relationships. Both the ones were good, crazy, and bad I have seen all.”
The actor recounted a pivotal moment in 2007 when he turned to prayer, pleading with God to guide him to a suitable spouse. “I cried to God and said ‘Father Lord I have had enough can you just give me a wife’,” Arinze recalled emotionally.
His prayers seemed to have been answered at a wedding, where he encountered Julie. With the encouragement of fellow entertainer Julius Agwu, Arinze mustered the courage to approach Julie, marking the beginning of their love story.
Reflecting on his past, Arinze admitted to keeping silent about his failed marriage, opting not to delve into details even now. “When that happened to me in 1997 I kept quiet. I did not say anything. I just let it go,” he confessed.
Arinze’s openness about his personal struggles and eventual triumph serves as a reminder of the resilience inherent in the human spirit, resonating with audiences who have faced similar challenges in their own lives.
