Samuel Nartey George, the Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, has strongly criticized President Akufo-Addo's decision not to assent to the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill 2024, also known as the Anti-gay bill. The Attorney-General's advice to the President, outlined in a letter dated March 18, 2024, suggested refraining from taking any action on the Bill pending a Supreme Court decision regarding two separate applications for an interlocutory injunction against it.

These applications aimed to prevent Parliament from sending the Bill to the President and to restrain the President from signifying his assent to it until the matter was finally resolved by the court. Consequently, the Office of the President requested Parliament to hold off sending the anti-gay bill to President Akufo-Addo for his assent based on this advice.

In response, Sam George, one of the sponsors of the anti-gay bill, expressed his dismay on a social media platform on Tuesday, March 19, 2024. He criticized President Akufo-Addo's decision to follow the Attorney-General's advice, labeling it as "shameful and disgraceful." He further implied that the President's actions demonstrated a lack of integrity and trustworthiness, suggesting that Akufo-Addo's words and promises were unreliable.

In summary, Sam George's reaction reflects deep disappointment and distrust towards President Akufo-Addo's handling of the Anti-gay bill, accusing him of not honoring his commitments to the Ghanaian people.
