The Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) has issued a warning regarding a scam involving individuals impersonating GIPC staff. These scammers are requesting mobile money payments from investors and businesses for registration with the GIPC or renewal of certificates.

In a statement shared on its social media on March 19, 2024, the GIPC emphasized that it does not solicit mobile money payments for any of its services. Instead, it conducts all services through a well-defined procedure outlined on its website at https://www.gipc.gov.gh/investor-guide/. This procedure does not involve mobile money transfers.

The GIPC has advised the public to exercise caution if approached by anyone requesting mobile money payments on behalf of the Centre. If individuals encounter such situations, they are urged not to engage and to report the incident to law enforcement authorities as well as inform the GIPC.

This warning serves as a reminder for businesses and investors to verify the authenticity of any requests for payments or services purportedly coming from the GIPC to avoid falling victim to scams.
