Government Launches Flagship Education Programmes for Out-of-School Learners"

The Ninth Cycle of Complementary Basic Education (CBE) and Remedial Education Programme (REP) have been introduced to enhance education accessibility and equity. These initiatives target specific demographics, with CBE catering to out-of-school children aged eight to 16 and REP focusing on junior and senior high school dropouts, providing them with a chance to retake their examinations.
Launched by the Complementary Education Agency (CEA) of the Ministry of Education in Accra, the programs aim to promote complementary education for out-of-school learners under the theme "Promoting complementary education for out-of-school learners in a changing world."
The CBE initiative aims to reach up to 30,000 out-of-school children across eight districts in the Bono, Bono East, Upper East, and Upper West regions. The government, represented by Mrs. Gifty Twum-Ampofo, the Deputy Minister in charge of Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET), emphasizes its commitment to human resource development through initiatives like Free SHS and TVET. Mrs. Twum-Ampofo stressed the importance of well-developed human resources for accelerated national development and called for collaboration among stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the programs.
Catherine Agyapomaa Appiah-Pinkrah, the acting Executive Director of CEA, echoed the call for concerted efforts from partners to fulfill the mandate of the agency. She emphasized the agency's responsibility to provide out-of-school children with the opportunity to access education beyond the traditional classroom setting.
