In a heartwarming gesture of support and gratitude, the Adjaye family, a distinguished lineage of St. Augustine’s College alumni, recently enriched their alma mater by donating 23 computers to bolster its Information, Communications, and Technology (ICT) center in Cape Coast.
The generous donation, comprising 20 laptops and three desktop computers, marks another significant contribution from the Adjaye family towards the advancement of education at St. Augustine’s College. The ICT center, fondly known as the Adjaye ICT Laboratory, was initially established by the family a decade ago, demonstrating their enduring commitment to the institution.
Dr. Robert Adjaye (APSU 1964), representing the family, reiterated their ongoing support for the college, highlighting a previous donation of 60 computers made in 2014. This tradition of giving back to their alma mater underscores the deep-rooted connection and sense of responsibility the Adjaye family feels towards St. Augustine’s College.
Furthermore, the family's dedication to fostering excellence was evident as they sponsored four awards in alignment with the Robert Adjaye Excellence Awards, an initiative aimed at promoting academic distinction within the college community.
The Adjaye family's association with St. Augustine’s College spans generations, beginning with Robert Adjaye Snr, a pioneer student in 1930. Dr. Adjaye reminisced about the family's longstanding ties to the college, with several members, including siblings, cousins, sons, and nephews, following in the footsteps of their forebears. Their mother, Elizabeth Ulzen Adjaye, also contributed to the college's legacy as a domestic bursar from 1965 to 1968.
Expressing gratitude for the ongoing support, Henry Arthur-Gyan, the Headmaster of St. Augustine’s College, commended the Adjaye family for their unwavering dedication to the institution's progress.
