Attorney-General Calls on NPP to Promote Achievements for 2024 Elections

The Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame, has urged members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to actively promote the party's achievements as they campaign for the December 2024 elections. Speaking to journalists in Sunyani last Thursday, Mr. Dame emphasized the importance of boldly communicating the successes the party has achieved over the past eight years.

"We must be bold in terms of propagating all the achievements we have chalked up in the past eight years, and also preach our campaign messages for the good people of Ghana," Mr. Dame stated.

His remarks came after donating motorbikes and party T-shirts to the Bono Regional NPP to support its ongoing campaign efforts. He encouraged every member of the party to confidently present the NPP’s accomplishments to the electorate, asserting that this approach would help Ghanaians make informed decisions at the polls.

During his visit, Mr. Dame also held a closed-door meeting with the 12 parliamentary candidates of the party, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs), regional executives, and constituency chairmen. He praised the party's decision to tour all 16 regions of Ghana, showcasing the NPP’s achievements.

Mr. Dame expressed confidence in the party's prospects for the upcoming elections, particularly in the Bono Region, where the NPP is targeting eight out of the 12 parliamentary seats. "My minimum target is eight seats, and I'm confident and sure that we will get about eight seats in the December 2024 general election," he said.

In the 2020 elections, the NPP and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) each won six parliamentary seats in the region. Mr. Dame believes the NPP has a stronger, clearer message compared to the NDC, whose main campaign message, "24-hour Economy," he claimed, lacks clarity.

He further noted that the NPP had successfully resolved internal conflicts following the party primaries, leading to a more unified and stronger party. "I'm happy to note that all the divisions in the party have been ironed out. There is unity in the party now. The party is united and stronger to break the eight," Mr. Dame added.

He also called on government appointees to contribute meaningfully to the party's work as they gear up for the 2024 elections.
