German State Parliament Honours Former KNUST Department Head for Ghana-German Cooperation Efforts

The German State Parliament has honoured the former head of the Department of KNUST Publishing Studies, Dr. Ralph Nyadu-Addo, for his immense contribution to the promotion of Ghana-German cooperation for more than two decades.

Dr. Nyadu-Addo, a German-trained academic and researcher, has led Ghanaian businesses, entrepreneurs, and students to connect and form synergies with the German business culture and academics for 24 years. His efforts have raised over twenty million dollars for KNUST, particularly supporting student entrepreneurs and initiating numerous projects within the university.

One of Dr. Nyadu-Addo’s most notable achievements is his coordination of the Africa Centre for Career Enhancement and Skills Support (ACCESS) program, a highly impactful entrepreneurial training and empowerment initiative in Africa. He coordinated the initial ACCESS Project 1.0, valued at 3.7 million euros, and is currently coordinating the upcoming ACCESS 2.0, which involves 5 million euros aimed at empowering students and businesses.

The honour was presented by André Kuper, President of the German State Parliament for North Rhine-Westphalia, during a visit by a delegation from KNUST, which included students and alumni from the Department of Publishing Studies in Düsseldorf. Kuper emphasized the strong political and economic relations between North Rhine-Westphalia and Ghana, particularly highlighting the university cooperation that facilitates the exchange of science and study between the two regions.

Since 2007, North Rhine-Westphalia and Ghana have maintained an official partnership focusing on university cooperation and migration management. Following the presentation, the KNUST delegation exchanged views with former Minister of State Lutz Lienenkämper and other State Parliament members.

Additionally, Dr. Nyadu-Addo founded the KNUST Centre for Business Development and Kumasi Business Incubator, drawing on his extensive experience in Germany. Having completed his Masters and PhD at Leipzig University, he has collaborated with various German institutions from 2000 to 2024.
