Ghanaian actress Fella Makafui is championing a call for increased support for the local movie industry, emphasizing its pivotal role in overcoming existing challenges and fostering growth.

Speaking on Hitz Fm, Makafui underscored the significance of patronage, stressing that it directly translates into financial viability for producers, thereby facilitating the creation of future projects. "I feel it all boils down to the support. Because if I invite you to my movie and the day we premiere it and people come in their numbers, we are going to get our returns to produce another movie," she articulated.

She expressed optimism about the sector's resurgence despite prevailing challenges. "I am seeing changes in the industry. Last year when I co-produced Serwaa, the series with Farmhouse, it was massive. Even for this movie, I am so grateful, the support is so massive," she remarked.

Makafui, concurrently promoting her latest project, "Resonance," anticipates its premiere at the Silverbird Cinemas in Accra on Saturday, May 11.
