Chef Smith Clarifies: No Rivalry Intended with Chef Faila's Cook-a-thon Record Attempt
International executive chef, Chef Smith, addresses misconceptions surrounding his Guinness World Record attempt for the longest cooking marathon, stressing that his efforts are not aimed at competing with fellow Ghanaian Chef Faila. Chef Smith emphasizes his individual ambition and coincidental timing with Chef Faila's record attempt.
Chef Smith, an international executive chef, has been facing criticism for potentially undermining the efforts of fellow Ghanaian Chef Faila in his attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon. However, Chef Smith insists that he has been misunderstood and that his intentions are not to rival Chef Faila or anyone else.
He explains that his ambition to attempt the record began last year after being inspired by Nigeria's Hilda Baci. Despite facing initial disqualification in July, Chef Smith reapplied in September and was granted approval. He emphasizes that his timing coinciding with Chef Faila's attempt is purely coincidental and not intentional.
Chef Smith, a graduate of the College of Tourism and Hospitality Management of National University, Philippines, aims to complete a 360-hour cooking marathon, surpassing the current record held by Irish chef Alan Fisher. As of Wednesday morning, Chef Smith had completed 150 hours of his attempt, with the goal of finishing on March 6.
He urges Ghanaians to support him in his endeavor, emphasizing that this is a global competition and not a rivalry between individuals. He clarifies that clashes in timing are determined by officials and not by the competitors themselves.
